Fenerbahce wants a late move for Arsenal defender

Fenerbahce want to shop at Arsenal late in this transfer window, having developed an interest in Cristhian Mosquera in the last few days.

The defender moved to Arsenal a year ago and is a backup defender at the club. He can also play as a right back rather than only in the middle and was useful to the team in several phases and competitions last season.

However, Mosquera could be eager for more relevance and more minutes, which may not happen while he plays for Arsenal, so he could be open to leaving. His versatility has made him a useful member of the squad, but competition for places could limit his opportunities.

Caught Offside reports that Fenerbahce are the latest club showing interest in his signature, and they want to add him to their squad in the next few days. Their approach has come late in the transfer window, leaving them with limited time to convince Arsenal to consider a departure.

The Gunners will make some sales before the window closes, but Mosquera has not been considered one of the players who could leave the club. Arsenal have viewed him as a useful squad option, particularly because of his ability to operate in more than one defensive position.

Arsenal unlikely to sell late

Mosquera also seems happy in his role with the team and has not been pushing to leave the Emirates, so the Turkish side could be frustrated in their efforts to add him to their squad this summer.

The timing of Fenerbahce’s interest could also work against them. With the transfer window approaching its conclusion, Arsenal would have little reason to lose a player who provides valuable depth so late in the summer.

Mosquera’s ability to cover at right back as well as in central defence gives Arsenal another option when injuries or rotation become issues. Losing him at this stage would therefore reduce the manager’s choices heading into the rest of the campaign.

Fenerbahce may still attempt to make their interest count, but Arsenal appear unlikely to welcome an approach at this stage. Unless the defender pushes for a move or the situation changes quickly, Mosquera should remain with the Gunners beyond the transfer deadline.

For now, the late interest from Fenerbahce looks unlikely to change Arsenal’s plans for the versatile defender.
