Arsenal could be about to make a massive mistake while waiting for Julian Alvarez

Arsenal are still waiting to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.

The Premier League champions are yet to make a marquee attacking signing in this window, but there are still a few days left.

Andrea Berta is working hard behind the scenes, and it is clear that Alvarez is Arsenal’s main target after missing out on the likes of Vinicius Jr and Morgan Rogers.

But while they wait for his approval, Arsenal seem to be ignoring one key problem.

Arsenal’s big mistake while waiting for Julian Alvarez

We are all for Arsenal signing Julian Alvarez this summer.

The Argentina international is one of the best forwards in world football, and he would take the Gunners’ attack to a whole new level.

Paul Merson even thinks Arsenal will win the Champions League if they sign Alvarez, and we are inclined to agree with him.

However, Berta and Mikel Arteta need to address the problem on the left wing too.

Leandro Trossard left Arsenal weeks ago, while Gabriel Martinelli is on his way to Al-Hilal in a club-record sale.

Christos Tzolis has replaced the Belgian, but Arsenal will have to replace Martinelli too to have sufficient natural options on the left flank.

However, everything coming out of the transfer rumour mill indicates that the Gunners only have Alvarez on their mind right now.

There are barely any concrete links to an elite left-winger, which is a massive concern.

It would be great to sign Alvarez, but while they wait to get that deal done, Arsenal should be working hard to sign a new left winger too.

If they don’t, it could prove to be a massive mistake, as they would be one injury to Tzolis or a dip in form away from being in real trouble in that position.

It remains to be seen what will happen in the final four days of the summer transfer window, but in our eyes, a new left winger is a much bigger priority than another centre-forward.
