Arsenal player ratings vs Chelsea: Martin Odegaard shines but 9.5/10 star was even better

Arsenal have just beaten Chelsea 2-1 in the Premier League.

The Gunners were on the back foot very early in the game, with Morgan Rogers scoring within two minutes. Things could’ve gone very wrong had Mikel Arteta’s men dropped their heads.

However, Arsenal responded brilliantly, and after a disallowed offside goal, Kai Havertz levelled the game with a fantastic goal.

Martin Odegaard then gave his side the lead early in the second half, and that was enough for the champions to pick up all three points.

Here are our player ratings…

Arsenal player ratings vs Chelsea

David Raya: 8.5/10

A good evening overall for David Raya, but we’re sure he will be disappointed with the goal he conceded. However, his save to deny Estevao was out of this world!

Ben White: 8/10

Another solid game from Ben White. The Englishman was solid at the back and excellent going forward. Maybe he could’ve stopped Rogers from shooting, but that should take nothing away from his performance.

Ezri Konsa: 8/10

A first start in Arsenal’s colours for Ezri Konsa, and he didn’t look out of place. He was solid for most of the game, and his tackle on Morgan Rogers was outstanding.

Gabriel Magalhaes: 8.5/10

Gabriel Magalhaes was as solid as ever at the back. It’s a shame he didn’t get on the score sheet in the first half, but he didn’t put a foot wrong at the back. Warrior!

Riccardo Calafiori: 9/10

What a phenomenal footballer Riccardo Calafiori is. The Italian, unfortunately, had a goal disallowed, but he was fantastic with his movement and caused Chelsea all sorts of problems. There’s no one else like him.

Myles Lewis-Skelly: 9/10

Myles Lewis-Skelly is really making it hard for Bruno Guimaraes to get into the side. Yes, the Brazilian was not fully fit today, but if the youngster continues performing like this, he cannot be dropped.

Declan Rice: 8.5/10

Declan Rice with a very typical performance. He did what he had to do exceedingly well and made zero mistakes on or off the ball. One of the very best!

Martin Odegaard: 9/10

Odegaard is back to his best. The Norway international ran the show, and he scored a wonderful goal to put Arsenal ahead. Captain’s performance!

Bukayo Saka: 8.5/10

Really unlucky not to score, but Bukayo Saka had a great game. He was heavily involved in the first half, and even though it wasn’t fully the same after the break, he deserves a lot of praise.

Christos Tzolis: 9/10

After getting substituted at half-time against Aston Villa, Christos Tzolis had a point to prove. The Greek international was outstanding and picked up a brilliant assist for Odegaard’s goal.

Kai Havertz: 9.5/10

Havertz scores against Chelsea, again. The German was outstanding – not just with his goal but his dummy for Odegaard’s strike is worthy of an assist. Sensational performance!
