Christos Tzolis suggests Arsenal have a teenager who's already a real leader

Arsenal have often been accused of not having enough leaders in their squad.

Martin Odegaard’s captaincy has come under immense scrutiny in recent years, with many calling for Declan Rice to be given the armband.

The reason for that is that Odegaard doesn’t appear to be an old-school skipper like Tony Adams or Patrick Vieira, who are very vocal with their leadership.

However, there are many others in the squad who do the talking when they need to, and one of them is actually a teenager.

Christos Tzolis says Myles Lewis-Skelly speaks a lot behind the scenes at Arsenal

Christos Tzolis joined Arsenal from Club Brugge earlier this summer.

The switch to the Gunners is the biggest move of the Greek international’s career so far, and he has experienced a lot of changes since.

Tzolis expressed surprise at Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz’s ‘bromance’ despite fighting for the same position on the pitch.

In the same Reddit AMA, Tzolis was asked about the players who motivate others in training and behind the scenes.

He named the usual names, but what caught our eye was his claim that Lewis-Skelly speaks a lot too.

Tzolis said: “Actually, everyone tries to help each other in training, on the pitch, during the games as well. We are one team that wants to improve, and the aim is to win every time, so the standards are high in training as well.

“I can say the more experienced guys, they speak a lot, like Mikel Merino, Gabriel Magalhaes and Declan Rice, I can hear a lot – Myles as well!”

“I think it’s good to have these kinds of players next to you and to learn from them.”

Myles Lewis-Skelly is a future Arsenal captain

Arsenal fans were baffled when rumours emerged that Lewis-Skelly could be sold in the summer.

The 19-year-old is one of our own, having come through the ranks at Hale End and performed brilliantly for the first-team on several occasions over the last two seasons.

We’re so glad that those rumours ended up being just that – rumours – because Lewis-Skelly is one of the best players of his age in the world, and there’s no way Arsenal should consider selling him.

Tzolis’s comments further reinforce the above statement; if Lewis-Skelly is vocal as a teenager in front of grown men, imagine how he will be when he is older.

We are convinced that the youngster will be a future Arsenal captain.
