‘Every game’: Enzo Maresca makes comment about Arsenal’s squad compared to Man City’s
Arsenal and Manchester City very much look like the two sides who will battle it out for the title this season.
City now have a perfect record this season after narrowly beating Coventry City and the onus is now on Arsenal to match that when they face Chelsea next.
For City, the end to the transfer window was a busy one as they signed big players like Iliman Ndiaye and Enzo Fernandez to bolster their squad.
However, while some have questioned those big signings, City boss Enzo Maresca has used Arsenal as the example of the level he is trying to reach.

Everyone looks at this current Arsenal squad and realises that it has depth and quality throughout.
A number of transfer windows have led to this squad being built and barring a lack of a replacement for Gabriel Martinelli, the Gunners are well covered.
Now, City boss Maresca has used Arsenal as his example when defending City’s own big spending.
“We played Community Shield final and then Arsenal played two more games and they had five changes in every game, two World Cup winners – Merino & Zubimendi – two English players – Eze & Madueke,” Maresca commented.
“In the end, if you want to be there, you need to have options and Arsenal have options and now, we are there.”
In fairness to Maresca here, he does make a valid point.
For all the money City have spent over the years, they did look light before the season started. Big players like Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Savio are hardly easy to replace.
In the end, City’s net spend was only around the £170m mark, which in today’s prices and for the quality they got, is not too much.
It’s going to be some battle again this season. Maresca seems to have already got City ticking along quite nicely and it’s important Arsenal do not drop their level.
