Andrea Berta's 21-man summer transfer wish list for Arsenal has just been leaked

Andrea Berta's 21-man summer transfer wish list for Arsenal has just been leaked

Andrea Berta’s plans for Arsenal in the summer transfer window didn’t come to fruition.

The Italian exceeded expectations in his first window last year and made eight new signings. Fans were in awe of him at the time.

This summer, however, Arsenal supporters have turned on Berta because he failed to solve one of the club’s biggest problems – their attack.

A report has now revealed that Berta was actually well prepared with his list of targets before the window, but none of the names are wearing red and white now.

The 21 players Andrea Berta had on his Arsenal transfer wish list

Andrea Berta didn’t get it right this summer at Arsenal, but that doesn’t mean he is a bad sporting director.

The Italian still managed to bring in Christos Tzolis, Bruno Guimaraes, Ezri Konsa and Illan Meslier, while also making Piero Hincapie’s loan deal permanent.

That checks plenty of boxes, but not signing a new left winger or a striker is viewed as a huge risk, especially following the sales of Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Even though Berta signed no marquee attacking player in the end, he had plenty of names on his wish list – 21 in total, with several of them being forwards.

Here’s the full list, as revealed by BBC Sport:

  1. Morgan Rogers (LW/CAM)
  2. Bradley Barcola (LW)
  3. Kenan Yildiz (LW)
  4. Yan Diomande (LW/RW)
  5. Nico Paz (CAM)
  6. Eli Kroupi Junior (CF)
  7. Joao Pedro (CF)
  8. Elliot Anderson (CM)
  9. Vinicius Jr (LW)
  10. Julian Alvarez (CF)
  11. Malick Fofana (LW)
  12. Sandro Tonali (CM)
  13. Alex Scott (CM)
  14. Amadou Onana (CM)
  15. Jeremy Monga (LW)
  16. Louis Page (CM)
  17. Ivan Fresneda (RB)
  18. Cristian Romero (CB)
  19. Micky van de Ven (CB)
  20. Jacobo Ramon (CB)
  21. Tarik Muharemovic (CB)

Arsenal should keep an eye on a few of them for January

Many of the 21 names on Berta’s list would’ve improved Arsenal, so he was definitely looking in the right place this summer.

However, the fact that not a single one of those above names plays for Arsenal now shows he failed in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal’s next opportunity to strengthen their squad will be in January, and there are a few names on that list who could prove to be worthy additions.

Kroupi and Kenan Yildiz will be at the top of our list, while we’d still like Alvarez if he can be convinced to move to Arsenal.

Berta has around four months to get at least one of those three players in. Whether he can, though, remains to be seen.
