Niko Tsakiris Inspires San Jose Earthquakes To Comeback Win Over San Diego FC With Goal And Two Assists

San Jose Earthquakes ended an eight-match winless streak on Wednesday night with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over San Diego FC.

Niko Tsakiris was the standout performer, contributing a goal and two assists before halftime to drive his side to victory.

Tsakiris opened the scoring in just the third minute, netting his third goal of the season to give San Jose an early advantage.

Beau Leroux and Luka Jovanovi? both registered assists on that opening goal as the Earthquakes started with real intent and purpose.

San Diego keeper CJ dos Santos then denied Tsakiris from the penalty spot in the eighth minute, keeping his side within touching distance.

However, Tsakiris responded brilliantly just four minutes later, teeing up Preston Judd to make it 2-0 and extend the Earthquakes’ lead.

That goal was Judd’s 12th of the season, a new career-high, after the forward had managed 11 goals across his first 72 league appearances.

Tsakiris then turned provider again in the 35th minute, recording his 10th assist of the season as Ousseni Bouda slotted home a third goal.

That strike was Bouda’s sixth of the season, also a career-best, having previously scored only five times across his first 70 matches.

Tsakiris, who had recorded just three assists across 61 appearances between 2022 and 2025, has now transformed into one of MLS’s most productive playmakers.

San Diego pulled two goals back to make it a tense finish, but San Jose held on to claim all three points and move to 11 wins on the season.

The result moves the Earthquakes to a record of 11-8-5, while San Diego drop to 8-10-6 following another frustrating home defeat this campaign.
