‘He’s amazing’: Martin Odegaard says why Christos Tzolis is so good after his Arsenal debut v Coventry

It’s fair to say that Christos Tzolis is already looking the business in an Arsenal shirt.

After starring in the Community Shield win over Man City, Tzolis was given a first Premier League start against Coventry and impressed once again.

The £34m signing looks a snip already for the price paid and in terms of both Leandro Trossard and Gabi Martinelli, he looks like a major upgrade.

Tzolis himself has already impressed coaching staff at the club with his fitness and willingness to create.

And after witnessing his home debut, his captain Martin Odegaard was also full of praise.

“He’s amazing, he played a brilliant game,” Odegaard told BBC Sport.

“He’s so lively. It’s hard to defend against him. He’s a really intelligent player. He always looks up and finds the right pass.”

For Bukayo Saka, that means he’s longer getting doubled up every single time, with defenders now having to give just as much attention to Tzolis.

Over the course of the season, we can expect both Tzolis and Saka to be hugely influential.
