Young defender says goodbye to Manchester United on Instagram ahead of joining Arsenal permanently

Arsenal are also making some big moves at academy level too, and one signing looks imminent now – Habeeb Ogunneye from Manchester United.

Arsenal have prioritised improving their academy in recent months, and they have already sealed a few impressive signings.
The Quintero twins, Edwin and Holger, are set to arrive next year, as is Victor Ozhianvuna. A deal for Igor Tyjon has already been agreed too.
Two Manchester United youngsters, James Scanlon and Habeeb Ogunneye, emerged on Arsenal’s radar this summer, and the Gunners have been confident of signing both players.
Now, it looks like it is only a matter of time before one of them is announced.
Ogunneye has taken to Instagram to bid farewell to Manchester United after 15 long years at the club.
“15 years. What a journey. Forever grateful for the memories, the people and everything this club has given me. Time for the next chapter,” he posted, along with a few images.
For those unaware, Ogunneye is a 20-year-old London-born defender who mainly played as a right-back for Manchester United’s youth sides.
He has represented England internationally at U17 level, but he is also eligible to play for Nigeria if he chooses to do so.
Ogunneye is expected to play for the Arsenal U21s once he completes his move. It will be interesting to see how he will fare.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are also working to wrap up the formalities to sign Scanlon from Manchester United in the coming days.
A Gibraltar international with 24 senior caps already, the 19-year-old can play across the frontline and will give the Arsenal U21s some much-needed firepower in attack.
