They could spend a billion on transfers, and it still wouldn't defeat what we already know: Arsenal's biggest Premier League threat is no longer Man City, it's Chelsea.
And look, that could very easily come to look like a stupid statement come the end of the season. The truth is, with Chelsea, nobody knows. They're incredibly hard to predict, but that's why they're a genuine threat this season.
This season, Man City can only get worse. If Enzo Maresca somehow improves after Pep Guardiola left then, well, he deserves far more than a Premier League medal.
Chelsea, on the other hand, can only get better. They're not in Europe, and they have one of the best coaches in the world. Chelsea are a bigger threat than Man City if they fix their woeful goalkeeper position.
We saw in Gameweek 1 that Chelsea are the second-best team of the big six right now. Their attack genuinely looked great, but it was their defence that let them down.
Chelsea expert James Fudge said, "Chelsea are set for a big season, with Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers crucial to our chances. We’ve recruited really well, adding experience, strong voices and high standards to the dressing room."

By Chelsea signing Emiliano Martínez, which is a legitimate likelihood, they would be strengthening the one position holding them back. He is infinitely better than Robert Sánchez, and he would immediately strengthen their back line.
Is Martínez the difference between Chelsea winning the Premier League and not winning it? No, Arsenal would remain clear favourites. However, it does make them a bigger threat than Man City.
At the moment, Sánchez is bound to cost them -15 points from goalkeeping errors. Of course, Martínez has an error in him too, but reducing the -15 point deficit to a -5 point deficit is still an upgrade in that department.
Arsenal host Chelsea in Gameweek 3, so we'll see if this take ages like milk or like a fine wine.
Obviously, Arsenal aren't going to fear Chelsea, and they shouldn't. Regardless of whether they are Arsenal's toughest or weakest opposition, they still don't match up. Arsenal are the runaway favourites for the Premier League this season, and it's theirs to lose.
