‘He’s completely underrated’: Martin Keown names Arsenal’s best 3 signings under Mikel Arteta
Arsenal have spent a fortune on new signings since Mikel Arteta arrived at the football club.
The Spaniard has had the full backing of the board and he finally repaid them last season as the Gunners were crowned champions and came within a whisker of being European champions too.
Huge sums have been spent on players like Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Viktor Gyokeres and more, and Arteta is still demanding more to this day.
Of course, ranking the most important signings is subjective. But according to Martin Keown, the top three are clear.

Fans and pundits will have a different perspective on just who is the best signing under Arteta. So many have arrived that it’s hard to narrow it down.
For Keown though, the two standouts are David Raya and Declan Rice.
But when it comes to the third best in the Arteta era, Keown believes it is Kai Havertz who doesn’t get enough praise.
“I think probably Havertz, is the third best signing he’s made,” Keown said.
“I think he’s completely underrated. The way he’s able to sort of ghost from a midfield position into a forward position, linking the play, scoring his goals. Because Arsenal need…what type of striker do Arsenal need?
“I think Havertz gives them a really good mix of a player that can float between the 10 position and the nine.”

Havertz continues to be more and more important for Arsenal and he very much has the knack of producing when it matters.
It was his goal that put the Gunners into the Champions League final last season while against Coventry, Havertz’s deadly finish got things up and running.
Clearly, big money was spent on the German but you have to say he has repaid that money and then some.
For now, he is Arsenal’s main man up top and Viktor Gyokeres faces quite the battle to win his place back.
