Arsenal fans want £56m deal cancelled immediately after hearing what David Ornstein just said

Arsenal fans have some bad news coming their way.

The Gunners have spent most of the summer waiting for Julian Alvarez to change his mind and join them, but that hasn’t happened yet.

David Ornstein has now revealed that the chances of that happening are ‘low’, as things stand.

“At the time of reporting, it’s a low chance that Julian Alvarez comes to Arsenal. Atletico Madrid would do a deal with Arsenal. Arsenal are prepared to reach a club-to-club agreement, but they would want the player to want to join them,” he said on TNT Sports.

“Alvarez has shown no indication of wanting to join at this point. He’s spoken to Mikel Arteta and said that he doesn’t want to come. That could change. These situations are always movable, so I don’t want to say it won’t happen, but right now, it’s not developing.”

Arsenal supporters are naturally upset, and they are now demanding a change in stance about a different player.

Arsenal fans demand Gabriel Martinelli sale is cancelled

Missing out on Alvarez would be a big blow, but not signing anyone else before the window shuts would be even bigger.

That’s especially if Gabriel Martinelli’s £56 million sale to Al-Hilal is sanctioned.

Arsenal fans want that deal to be ripped apart if they cannot convince Alvarez to join them before Tuesday’s deadline.

One tweeted: “At this stage I’m fed up with the Mikel Arteta and Alvarez situation. Leave the guy and let’s focus on the January market. Martinelli doesn’t have to leave now.”

Another wrote: “Alvarez is not coming, so Martinelli is not going.”

“Have Arsenal accepted the Martinelli offer from Saudi? My opinion is, if Alvarez doesn’t happen, better to keep him till next summer. Trigger the one-year contract extension and go again,” said another.

Another Gooner reacted to Ornstein’s update by saying: “With all due respect, if Alvarez really ain’t coming, please just keep Martinelli. We don’t have a single profile to replace him.”

“Alvarez is a fantastic player, but it’s not worth the stress. Just keep Martinelli,” said another.

Arsenal fans are right; keeping hold of Martinelli would make more sense if Andrea Berta cannot sign another attacker.

Going the whole season with just Christos Tzolis could prove to be a massive mistake.
