Arsenal are suddenly at risk of another Mykhaylo Mudryk and Morgan Rogers situation

Arsenal are yet to make a marquee attacking signing this summer.

We are into the final week of the summer transfer window, and there aren’t too many elite options for the Gunners to look at.

Yet, Andrea Berta is very active behind the scenes, and his biggest target is Atletico Madrid and Argentina star Julian Alvarez.

But there could now be a new problem.

Chelsea could hijack Arsenal’s move for Julian Alvarez

Arsenal fans must be sick of Chelsea by now.

The Blues famously hijacked the Gunners’ deal to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk a few years ago, while they also beat Mikel Arteta’s side to the signing of Morgan Rogers earlier this summer.

Now, Chelsea could ruin Arsenal’s plans again.

Alex Crook claimed on talkSPORT that Xabi Alonso’s side are also keeping an eye on Alvarez’s situation at Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal have been chasing the Argentine for a long time now, and the fact that they are the reigning Premier League champions and are in the Champions League should give them a sporting edge.

However, Chelsea have shown over the years that they have no problem blowing teams out of the water with financial packages to players and the selling clubs.

Arsenal experienced that first-hand with Rogers earlier this summer, and if they fail to wrap up a deal for Alvarez, they could be at risk of Chelsea signing another one of their targets again.

That would be extremely frustrating – much more than it was when the Gunners missed out on Mudryk and Rogers.

Julian Alvarez should choose Arsenal over Chelsea

Alvarez’s situation at Atletico Madrid has become very complicated.

The player’s dream is to join Barcelona, but Atleti released an official statement saying there is zero chance of that happening in this window.

That puts Arsenal in a good position to sign him, but Chelsea’s interest makes things much more difficult for the Gunners.

However, if we were in Alvarez’s shoes, joining Arsenal and playing in the Champions League makes much more sense than moving to Chelsea and playing once a week.

The North Londoners are a far more settled side than the Blues as well, which means there’s more chance of winning silverware at the Emirates in the near future.

That should make it a no-brainer for Alvarez, but will money talk again? Time will tell.
