40-goal Crystal Palace youth striker completes Arsenal transfer

Arsenal have officially announced that Crystal Palace striker Mylo Bernard has signed for the Gunners’ academy, joining as part of the club’s 2026/27 scholarship intake.

Arsenal add that Bernard has also signed a pre-contract agreement with the club for a professional deal, which will become active when he turns 17.

The club statement highlights that Bernard scored more than 40 goals for the Palace academy last season, which included six goals playing above his age group in the u18 Premier League.

Bernard is also an England youth international, scoring four goals and assisting two in his eight appearances for the England u16s. The 16-year-old is one of a number of additions to the Arsenal academy this summer.

Daniel McCarron (Dungannon Swifts), Elijah Upson (Tottenham Hotspur), Phoenix Blayney (Larne FC), Igor Tyjon (Blackburn Rovers), James Scanlon (Manchester United), Axel Donczew (Cardiff City), Habeeb Ogunneye (Manchester United), and Andria Bartishvili (Kolkheti 1913) have all either completed transfers or put pen to paper on deals to be completed in 2027.

Arsenal are also believed to be closing in on officially announcing the signing of Vincent Joseph from Liverpool. Like Bernard, Joseph’s contract with his previous club ran out this summer, but due to his age, he can’t move as a free agent.

The Gunners had to agree a compensation payment with Palace for Bernard, and they’ll need to do the same with Liverpool for Joseph. So far, that hasn’t been possible, and the transfer is set to go to a tribunal.
