“Just a great performance” Arteta delighted with win against Coventry

Mikel Arteta is obviously delighted after Arsenal secured a 3-0 win against Coventry City on the Premier League’s opening night, allowing them to start their title defence on a high.

Everyone expected the Gunners to beat Coventry, as they had performed well in their previous match against Manchester City and were playing at home against the Premier League new boys.

It was one of those games most people expected Arsenal to win, but it still had the potential to go badly for the home side. Instead, they managed to secure the result they wanted from the fixture.

Arteta watched as his players dominated the match from start to finish, and the manager was delighted that they got the job done and started the season with a winning result.

Arsenal make strong start

The Gunners have now laid down a marker, and their rivals will have to respond when they begin their own seasons. Arsenal can now rest and prepare for their next matches after making an impressive start to their title defence.

Arteta was particularly pleased with the way his players controlled the game. Arsenal created several opportunities, moved the ball accurately and maintained their dominance throughout the match.

The manager also felt that his team could have scored more before half-time, while they managed the game effectively after the break and allowed some players to get minutes.

Arteta praises Arsenal performance

Arteta told Premier League Productions: “Just a great performance, a lot to like from the boys, we were so dominating, had incredible connections, really accurate with the ball and scored two wonderful goals… should’ve scored a third before half-time. Second-half, we had a bit of luck with Martin and then had to manage the game, put some players in that needed minutes, a positive outcome.”

The result gives Arsenal an ideal beginning to their campaign and provides Arteta with plenty of encouragement. The Gunners were expected to win, but their performance ensured they did so convincingly.

With the opening victory secured, Arsenal can now focus on their next challenge while their title rivals begin their own campaigns. Arteta will hope his players can maintain the same level of performance as they attempt to defend their Premier League title.
