How Viktor Gyokeres really feels about being used in a swap deal for Julian Alvarez at Arsenal

Arsenal could be set to make one of the most staggering late transfer window moves in their history.

Indeed, there are just days to go in the summer transfer window, and Arsenal are still looking at signing Julian Alvarez.

Alvarez would arguably be Arsenal’s most jaw-dropping signing since Mesut Ozil this late in the summer.

Of course, there’s still a lot of work to do on this deal, but there have been a few suggestions around how this transfer could get done.

Viktor Gyokeres going the other way has been discussed on various occasions, but, apparently, that isn’t something that appeals to the player.

According to Flash Score, Viktor Gyokeres isn’t overly keen on the idea of being used in a swap deal for Julian Alvarez.

The report states that Gyokeres has been discussed as a makeweight in this deal, but the player himself isn’t so keen.

Indeed, Gyokeres is apparently keen to stay and establish himself at Arsenal, and, to be honest, you can’t blame him.

Gyokeres has spent one year at Arsenal and in that time he’s become a Premier League winner, and seen his team make it all the way to a Champions League final.

Why would anyone want to leave Arsenal at this moment in time?

On top of that, Gyokeres has a real point to prove after an up-and-down first season in the Premier League.

Yes, Gyokeres scored goals, but, questions were asked about his all-round game last season.

If Gyokeres leaves now, his Premier League legacy will be that of a player who didn’t quite cut it at the elite level, so it does make sense why he’d want to stay, prove people wrong and establish himself as a star.

It remains to be seen whether or not there’s another route into doing a deal for Alvarez late in the day.
