Stan Kroenke has just refused Julian Alvarez's latest demand to join Arsenal

Arsenal fans must be tired of hearing all the speculation about Julian Alvarez.

Mikel Arteta is really keen to sign the World Cup winner, and this has been the case for several months now.

However, the problem is that Alvarez prefers a move to Barca, and multiple reports have claimed that his stance hasn’t changed despite Atletico Madrid publicly stating they will not sell him to the Catalans.

Now, a different update has emerged from Spain.

Arsenal have the finances required to pull off huge signings.

That was made clear when the Gunners were chasing Vinicius Jr. Reports claimed that they were ready to make the Brazilian the highest-paid player in their history.

Vinicius ended up staying at Real Madrid in the end, so Arsenal should still have the money to attract massive names.

However, El Pais journalist Diego Torres Romano has now revealed that one of the reasons why Alvarez has not agreed to join Arsenal is because they haven’t agreed to pay him what he wants.

He tweeted: “In the end, each one will tell their own story. But Julian hasn’t gone to Arsenal because, so far, the Kroenkes aren’t giving him what he wants: €18 million (£15.4m) net fixed salary per year.

“Arsenal offer him €12 million (£10.2m) fixed + €2 million (£1.2m) in bonuses net per year.”

If you break down those numbers, Alvarez is said to be demanding nearly €350,000 (£300,000) net a week, while Arsenal’s offer stands at around €230,000 (£200,000) net a week before bonuses.

Julian Alvarez is not wrong to demand a big salary at Arsenal

Alvarez is one of the best players in the world.

The Argentina striker has been magnificent for Atletico Madrid over the last two years, and at 26 years of age, he is about to enter the prime years of his career.

With that in mind, Alvarez is well within his rights to demand a huge salary as his next move will likely be the biggest of his career.

However, Andrea Berta told agents that no player will earn more than Bukayo Saka at Arsenal when the Englishman signed his contract earlier this year.

That is perhaps why the Gunners are reluctant to pay Alvarez nearly £350,000 a week, as Saka himself earns around £300,000 a week from his new deal.
