2026/27 Champions League draw: Arsenal discover eight opponents for league phase

Arsenal have discovered their eight opponents for the league phase of this season’s Champions League.

The Gunners have made good progress since returning to the elite European competition three years ago.

They have made the quarter-final, semi-final and final in the last three editions, and will aim for the coveted prize this time around.

The draw for the league phase was held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco earlier today, and Arsenal now know their eight opponents.

From Pot 1, Arsenal will host Real Madrid at the Emirates Stadium. The Premier League holders have not lost against Los Blancos in the competition thus far.

They will have fond memories from the 2024/25 campaign. The club won 3-0 in the first leg of the quarter-final in London before a 2-1 win at the Bernabeu.

Alongside Madrid, Arsenal revive their old rivalry with Bayern Munich. The duo have met on 15 occasions, with Bayern holding the better record, eight wins to four.

However, Arsenal beat Bayern 3-1 at the Emirates last term and will seek to repeat the feat against the reigning German champions at the Allianz Arena this time.

From Pot 2, the Gunners will host Borussia Dortmund and face Spanish side Real Betis on the road.

Lille and Napoli are Arsenal’s Pot 3 opponents, home and away. Serie A giants Napoli could be a tricky club to beat, particularly with their good record in Naples.

Champions League debutants Sabah (home) and Slavia Prague (away) complete the fixtures (Pot 4). The Gunners won 3-0 at Slavia last term, with Mikel Merino scoring a brace.

UEFA will confirm the exact dates for the league phase fixtures by Saturday at the latest.
