Simon Jordan responds to Ian Wright after he criticised Arsenal’s handling of Martinelli

Ian Wright recently criticised Arsenal over their treatment of Gabriel Martinelli as they look to sell him during this transfer window, but Simon Jordan has responded to his comments.

The Gunners and the Brazilian have agreed that the best option for him is to leave the club this summer, and both parties have been in talks over a potential departure.

Martinelli rejected a move to Galatasaray, but he has opened the door to a move to Al Hilal, who are prepared to offer him a significant salary in the coming weeks. The attacker and the Saudi Pro League club remain in talks, while Arsenal expect to make 70m euros from his departure.

Arsenal Preparing for Martinelli Exit

The expected fee would help Arsenal sign a world-class player as they continue to strengthen their squad. When clubs are close to selling a player, they often keep them away from action to avoid the risk of an injury, and that may be what Arsenal are doing with Martinelli.

However, Wright wants to see the Brazilian playing and believes the club has not treated him well during this period.

Jordan Responds to Wright

Jordan responded to Wright’s criticism on Talk Sport:

“Unless he’s across the exact details of Arsenal’s behaviour, and the players’ perspective, which he may well be if he’s indicating it appears that he’s well aware of the players’ perspective.

“If so, maybe he’d be better served to perhaps keep his own counsel, because I’m not entirely sure what it’s got to do with him. I’m not entirely sure why he would think that Arsenal and Mikel Arteta aren’t capable of managing their players in an appropriate fashion.”

Jordan therefore questioned whether Wright has enough knowledge of the situation to criticise Arsenal’s handling of Martinelli. His comments suggest that the club should be trusted to manage the situation and decide how best to handle the Brazilian while negotiations over his future continue.

With Martinelli still in talks with Al Hilal and Arsenal expecting a significant fee from his departure, the situation could be resolved in the coming days if both parties reach an agreement.
