Inter Milan consider late summer move for 11-goal Arsenal forward

Inter Milan have reportedly emerged as potential suitors for Gabriel Martinelli as uncertainty continues over the Arsenal winger’s future in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter are considering whether to make one final attacking addition despite viewing the majority of their transfer business as complete.
The Nerazzurri are particularly interested in adding a player capable of providing creativity, unpredictability and one-v-one quality, with Martinelli now being linked with a switch to San Siro.
There is no indication yet that Inter have made a formal approach, but their interest provides Arsenal with another potential avenue should the club decide to sanction Martinelli’s departure.
The Brazil international has already attracted considerable attention this summer, with Galatasaray making an unsuccessful attempt to bring him to Turkey.
Martinelli rejected the possibility of joining the Turkish champions despite Arsenal being willing to consider a sale under the right circumstances.
His preference has instead been to remain at Arsenal, although his position within Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s squad has become less certain following changes to the attacking department.
Christos Tzolis arrived from Club Brugge this summer to strengthen the left flank and produced an encouraging display during Arsenal’s 3-0 Community Shield victory over Manchester City.
Martinelli was omitted from the squad for that game despite being fit, alongside fellow attackers Gabriel Jesus and Ethan Nwaneri, further increasing speculation about their futures.
Arteta nevertheless played down the significance of those omissions and maintained that Martinelli remains an important member of his squad.
The 25-year-old also contributed significantly to Arsenal’s successful 2025/26 campaign, recording 11 goals and seven assists across 53 appearances as the Gunners won the Premier League and reached the Champions League final.
His existing Arsenal contract runs until 2027 and contains an option for another year, meaning the Gunners are not under immediate contractual pressure to sell.
Inter could nevertheless represent a more appealing destination for Martinelli than some of the alternatives to have emerged this summer.
The Italian giants can offer Champions League football and the opportunity to remain at the highest level of European competition, although it remains unclear whether Martinelli himself would entertain the move.
For Arsenal, any decision will also need to account for their attacking depth as they attempt to defend their Premier League title.
Unless Inter turn their reported interest into a concrete proposal, Martinelli remains part of Arteta’s options, but his situation could be one to watch as the deadline approaches.
