Arsenal now interested in signing £60m attacker as a potential Julian Alvarez alternative
Arsenal are still searching for an attacker in the final days of the window.
Gabriel Martinelli is set to join Al Hilal, while Gabriel Jesus is also expected to leave.
Julian Alvarez is Mikel Arteta’s number one priority but it remains to be seen whether he can be convinced to return to England.
And with the window closing on Tuesday, Arsenal are exploring alternatives should it not materialise.
According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal have made fresh enquiries about Endrick at Real Madrid.
The Gunners had already discussed the 20-year-old Brazilian earlier in the summer during conversations with Real about Vinicius Jr, but have now returned with renewed interest following Martinelli’s departure.
Endrick joined Real Madrid from Palmeiras in 2022 in a deal worth around €70million in total, making him one of the most expensive teenagers in football history.
But his path to regular football at the Bernabeu has been blocked, with Jose Mourinho investing heavily in attacking options this summer.
Those close to Endrick don’t see how he will play a major role under Mourinho despite the Portuguese coach’s public backing of the youngster.
TEAMtalk report that the prospect of joining the Premier League champions and finding a clearer route to regular football does appeal to him.
Do Arsenal actually want Endrick?
Something doesn’t quite add up about this one. Endrick is clearly a talented footballer but it’s not clear how he would fit into this Arsenal team.
He is versatile but he would probably be the fourth choice attacker, at best, were he to join.
He’s sort of a centre-forward, sort of a winger, sort of a number ten, and while you could arguably say the same about Julian Alvarez, he doesn’t instantly improve Arsenal like the Argentine would.
Still only 20, Endrick has so much room to grow. But currently sidelined and yet to nail down a consistent position, it seems unlikely Arsenal would make a move for him at this stage.
For a club that is clearly in ‘win-now’ mode — signing Konsa and Guimaraes, targeting Alvarez — signing a raw, undefined 20-year-old feels like a step away from that.
