Arsenal Women set to sign Elisa de Almeida from PSG

Arsenal Women are set to sign French defender Elisa de Almeida from Paris Saint Germain. This is being reported by BBC Sport’s Emma Sanders and, on the back of that, Arseblog News sources also indicate a deal is in its final stages.

The 28-year-old plays as a centre-back and can also play at right-back. A further centre-half has been on the shopping list this summer with Katie Reid still returning from an ACL injury. Our understanding is that Arsenal have assessed a lot of options in a tough centre-back market, Smilla Holmberg having to play the second half of the Charlton pre-season friendly at centre-back illustrates that Arsenal required depth in the position.

De Almeida has a year remaining on her PSG contract, Emma reports sources in France indicate a fee of around £550,000. This would bolster Arsenal’s numbers at centre-half alongside Leah Williamson, Lotte Wubben-Moy, Katie Reid and Steph Catley. It will also be the Gunners’ first centre-back signing since Laia Codina in 2023, who joined West Ham this summer.
