Martin Odegaard aims brutal dig at Jamie Carragher right after Arsenal beat Napoli

Martin Odegaard has been one of the best players in the world this season.

The Arsenal captain had a brilliant World Cup with Norway and has looked at his very best since returning for pre-season this summer.

After scoring against Manchester City, Coventry and Chelsea, Odegaard added another one to his list with a fine strike against Napoli in the Champions League.

In an interview following the win, the midfielder had a little pop at Jamie Carragher.

Martin Odegaard has some history with Carragher.

The pundit has never been shy to criticise players for their performances over the years, but with the Arsenal captain, he took it a bit too far a few seasons ago.

After a win over his beloved Liverpool side, Carragher slammed Odegaard for taking a picture on the ground before heading back into the dressing room.

That was absolutely uncalled for at the time, and the Norwegian may have now jokingly got back at him.

On CBS Sports, Micah Richards asked Odegaard who his favourite member of the show was.

The Arsenal star replied: “There’s only one answer here.”

Carragher immediately said: “Thank you.”

Odegaard then replied with a smile: “There’s only one real legend in that studio (Thierry Henry).”

Carragher, who is referred to as a Liverpool legend by many, was brutally dismissed by Odegaard, albeit in a joking way.

In the end, the former Real Madrid man calmly said: “Nah, I’m joking. Jamie, you’re my favourite.”

Martin Odegaard could soon become a bigger football legend than Jamie Carragher

Carragher definitely played his part at Liverpool and helped them win the 2005 Champions League final against AC Milan.

It’s not wrong that he is referred to as a legend by their fans, but in the grand scheme of things, Odegaard is on track to surpass him.

The Norwegian has won a Premier League title, which is something Carragher never did. The Gunners are likely to retain it as well, which, if it happens, would make Odegaard the first captain of the club in nearly 100 years.

Furthermore, Arsenal are the favourites to win the Champions League this season, which, again, should it happen, would make skipper Odegaard achieve legendary status.

We think Odegaard is already on par, but a Premier League and Champions League double this season will instantly make him a bigger legend than Carragher.
