Jurrien Timber is not playing for Arsenal against Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup tonight. In fact, the Dutch defender is not even involved in the squad. This is despite him playing 45 minutes Sunderland at the weekend.
Timber has faced a long spell on the injury treatment table, and he's only just made it back available for the Gunners. Therefore, there is naturally a caution when it comes to playing him.
Arsenal fans can rest assured that Timber has not picked up a new injury.

He has only just returned from a long-term injury, so Arsenal are looking to manage his minutes. Thankfully for Arsenal fans, there is no new injury for them to contend with.
Timber's omission from the squad is nothing new. Arsenal have put together a heavily rotated team, with many other senior figures from the squad missing. For example, the likes of David Raya, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice are nowhere to be seen. This is intentional on Arteta's part, who trusts the entire depth of his squad to do a job when required.
Arsenal have incredible defensive depth, with many defenders able to play in more than one position.
Marli Salmon is who the Gunners have opted for to replace Timber at right-back. He, alongside fellow Hale End star Max Dowman, is involved in the starting lineup. The Carabao Cup provides an excellent opportunity for the young Gunners to make a name for themselves.
Ben White is resting while Arsenal learn the full extent of his injury. The England international was subbed off for Timber against Sunderland, with the club yet to provide any definitive update on his injury. For now, though, White is unavailable.
Technically speaking, Timber is available. He is not injured and, if Arteta wanted to, he could start Timber.
However, fitness and match sharpness are two different things. Timber is one of the best defenders in the world, but it might take a few more weeks before he's playing a full 90 minutes again. Thankfully, the international break should help with that.
