Why Arsenal are unlikely to be awarded extra Premier League titles after Man City found guilty

In a landmark Premier League ruling, Manchester City have been found guilty on 114 of their 115 charges.
Of course, City will appeal, and we haven’t heard the last of this.
However, as things stand, City have been found guilty, and while it’s unknown what the punishment will be, it’s clear that there could be some serious punishment headed City’s way.
It has even been mooted that City could be handed retroactive points deductions, meaning that they could potentially be stripped of Premier League titles.

Of course, Arsenal have been close challengers to City’s title-winning teams during this period, and that raises the question of whether Arsenal will be awarded any extra trophies or titles.
There is a precedent for this, back in the mid-2000s during the Calciopoli scandal, Inter Milan were named as retroactive champions in 2006, so perhaps Arsenal could receive the same treatment.
Unfortunately for Arsenal fans, it does seem unlikely that any extra titles will be headed Arsenal’s way.
Manchester City’s financial charges are related to issues between 2009 and 2018, and Arsenal never finished second to City in a title race between that time.
City were charged with ‘failure to co-operate’ with Premier League investigations in recent seasons, but it’s unlikely that those charges will come with sporting sanctions that are as harsh.
The main benefactors here if City are stripped of titles may well be Liverpool, who finished second in 2014, and Manchester United who finished second in both 2012 and 2018.
Arsenal aren’t likely to be given any extra titles, but, at the moment it is anyone’s guess as to how the Premier League will punish City at this point.
