What one Arsenal source is now saying about Erling Haaland if Man City get relegated

Every rival football fan is joking about the Manchester City player they would want to sign for their club if the Sky Blues get relegated.

The Cityzens have been found guilty of charges relating to breaches of the Premier League’s financial regulations. They have appealed the verdict, but if the decision is upheld, they could face severe sporting sanctions.

One potential punishment for Manchester City would be expulsion from the Premier League. That would likely mean many of their players would be available for transfer.

That has led to some speculation about Arsenal signing Erling Haaland, but is that really possible?

Arsenal have the money to sign Erling Haaland from Manchester City

Erling Haaland is arguably the best striker in the world right now.

The Norway international has been unbelievable since joining Manchester City, scoring 169 goals and providing 30 assists in 205 appearances in all competitions.

If given a chance, every club in the world would jump at the chance of signing Haaland, and Arsenal are no different. One source close to the club thinks the Gunners have the finances required to pull off this deal.

However, if he does leave City, Haaland’s aim is said to be to move to Spain to join either Barcelona or Real Madrid next summer.

That’s according to Graeme Bailey, who said on TeamTalk: “Our understanding is that the timeline – irrespective of a City relegation – was that Haaland and his camp were looking at 2027 [for a transfer], because that’s a down year in between big [international] competitions.

“I was told by an Arsenal source [that] clearly if a player like Haaland comes on the market – as they are one of the biggest clubs in Europe – they’re going to be interested.

“And obviously, as we know, they’re looking for a striker. They spent all summer trying to sign Julian Alvarez, so arguably, they’ve got the money as well, if they’re going to do it.

“But my understanding is that Erling Haaland wants to go to Spain. Primarily, we’re talking Real Madrid and Barcelona.”

Erling Haaland would make Arsenal the best team in the world

Stop any football fan on any street in the world and ask them to name Arsenal’s biggest weakness; they will say ‘striker’.

We’re big fans of both Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres, but neither player has been prolific enough for Arsenal to win games on their own on a consistent basis.

Haaland would immediately change that.

The former Borussia Dortmund man can be frustrating at times, but his goal record is absolutely frightening, and there is no player we’d rather have in a goalscoring position than him.

It is extremely unlikely – probably even impossible – but if Arsenal can sign Haaland in 2027, they will instantly become the best team in world football.
