What Mikel Arteta has said about Erling Haaland as Arsenal linked with shock deal for Man City ace

Manchester City’s current predicament with their 115 charges has got Arsenal and every other Premier League club scrambling.
While many clubs are mobilising lawyers and looking at how much compensation they could be due, there is also the small matter of a potential mass player exodus at The Etihad too.
With one of City’s punishments being a potential relegation to the lower divisions, there is simply no way that 90% of the squad will remain.
Indeed, the biggest earner of them all and star man, Erling Haaland, is one of those who would certainly leave. And after reports suggested Arsenal have already made it known they’d like to sign him, it’s worth noting what Mikel Arteta has said about the striker previously.
Why Mikel Arteta would love Erling Haaland at Arsenal
Clearly, any team in the world would love Erling Haaland. It doesn’t take a football expert or anyone of any great knowledge to see how good he is.
However, for Arteta, it’s all about how City build around Haaland to get the best from him.
“When you look at the numbers there’s no comparison with anyone else,” Arteta said ahead of facing City and Haaland back in 2023.
“He’s able to produce that because the setup is done in the right way for him, the players that they’ve got around him, the way he’s coached, the qualities that he has.
“There are a lot of things that have to be in the right way. With him they have the capacity to play in different ways, when you play really far from your goal they have the capacity to exploit open spaces and when they’re attacking low blocks they have a different threat because they are a very physical team right now.”
With Viktor Gyokeres hardly pulling up any trees in an Arsenal shirt once again, the sheer notion that the Gunners might land Haaland is exciting.
Of course, there is a long way to go in this matter and Haaland would also have every team in Europe wanting him.
Arsenal, though, have positioned themselves to at least be in the chat and if it did happen, it would be one of the most seismic transfers in English football history.
