Mikel Arteta often comes up with unique ways to get his Arsenal side ready for games.
The Gunners’ boss used to be ridiculed for some of his actions in the past, but since he won the Premier League, everyone has been quiet.
One of Arteta’s most popular methods to fire up his players was when he displayed Ivan Toney’s tweet mocking Arsenal in the 2021/22 season.
That worked at the time, and we have a feeling he will employ a similar tactic when Brighton host the champions on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta could use Fabian Hurzeler’s comments to fire Arsenal up vs Brighton
Arsenal have a good record against Brighton, even though the Seagulls have made it difficult almost every time.
The Gunners have won each of the last three meetings, scoring five goals and conceding just one. They haven’t lost a game in any of the last seven fixtures between the two sides.
The last of those meetings came in March this year. Arsenal won 1-0 in what was a tight game, and an angry Fabian Hurzeler demanded a rule change in the end.
“The Premier League needs to find a rule because I think that’s not football what Arsenal did there. And therefore, that was more the point I made to him when you see,” he said.
“Add the game time, more yellow cards for time wasting. Let me ask you, have you ever seen a goalkeeper go down three times in one game?”
Hurzeler’s comments invited a lot of criticism from Arsenal fans, with even Mikel Arteta responding sarcastically after the game by saying: “What a surprise!
“You can just go back to the previous games, and you will find a lot of comments.”
Hurzeler apologised to Arteta in his next press conference, but the Arsenal manager has a long memory, and we are convinced he will mention it in his pre-match team talk to fire his players up.
Brighton will face a very different Arsenal this time
Arsenal are not the same team they were in the back end of last season.
The Gunners had more injury and fatigue issues than almost any other side in the country, and their fixture list was unforgiving too.
Just three days before that Brighton game in March, Arsenal played Chelsea. Prior to that, they faced Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby.
This time, Arsenal will have a very fresh side, and Arteta’s men have taken the game to the opposition in every fixture so far this season.
It remains to be seen how Brighton and Hurzeler will find it when the two sides meet on Saturday.
