The one reason why Arsenal shouldn’t gloat too much about Man City’s financial charges

It may be an international break, but the biggest story of the Premier League season dropped this week.

Indeed, Manchester City have been found guilty on 114 out of the 115 charges they faced from the Premier League, and the landscape of the league could be about to change dramatically.

There has been talk of City being stripped of titles, being relegated and facing huge fines, and rival fans have been quick to pile in on this situation.

Arsenal supporters have been particularly getting involved in pointing fingers at City and demeaning their past achievements. However, there is one reason why those associated with Arsenal shouldn’t gloat too much.

Why Arsenal shouldn’t revel in Man City’s misery too much

Of course, there is the temptation for those in and around Arsenal to revel in Man City’s misery.

However, let’s not forget, the man at the top at Arsenal has been directly affected by this.

Mikel Arteta may be the Arsenal manager, but let’s not forget, he was a huge part of Manchester City’s rise throughout the 2010s.

Mikel Arteta was Pep Guardiola’s right-hand man and he tasted plenty of success at City, but now, that success is up in the air.

Arteta himself wasn’t entangled in any financial misconduct as far as we know, and while many are calling for titles to be stripped, is it really fair for someone like Arteta to have those moments reduced to nothing?

Of course, Arteta’s crowning glory is winning the Premier League with Arsenal, and that will mean infinitely more than any titles as Man City’s assistant manager, but those titles with City are still very much a part of Arteta’s story.

Arsenal fans and those associated with the club may well have plenty to say about City’s situation, but it is worth sparing a thought for how the Arsenal manager may feel about all of this.
