Viktor Gyokeres was the star for Sweden on Friday night as he got on the scoresheet yet again in a 1-1 draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina. The 28-year-old has now scored in six Nations League games in a row - a record-breaking feat.

He gave Sweden the lead in the 61st minute before their opponents hit back with 10 minutes remaining. The Arsenal forward could have nicked a brace in the tie, too, but his first finish was ruled out after a VAR review.

Gyokeres is yet to find the net for Mikel Arteta this season but his record for Sweden, especially in the Nations League, speaks for itself. Goals against Estonia, Slovakia and Azerbaijan in Nations League games of October and November of 2024, and strikes against Romania, Poland and Bosnia-Herzegovina in the competition during this international break, ensure he now holds an impressive record.

The verdict from the Swedish media is in and it chimes with many Arsenal fans' thoughts questioning why Gyokeres can frequently star for his country but so often toil for the Gunners. Here, we take a closer look at what they had to say about the Arsenal man's performance on Friday night.

SVT paid special attention to the rapid strike that secured a point for Sweden. They wrote: "Viktor Gyokeres also had a ball in the goal, but it was ruled out after a VAR review.

"Gyokeres would get his revenge in the second half, however. After the hour mark, he gave Sweden the lead when he fired a projectile that hit the roof of the net hard."

The outlet gave the Swede a rating of four out of five. They added: "Viktor Gyokeres made it 1-0 after a hard and sharp finish. He was close to getting a goal before that when he put the ball in the goal but was ruled out for handball."

Elsewhere, they wrote: "The question marks have not disappeared after the striker went to the national team and scored in all three Nations League matches.

"On Friday, Viktor Gyokeres made history. He has now scored in six consecutive Nations League matches, something no other player has done. Gyokeres previously shared the record with Slovenian Benjamin Sesko and Serbian Aleksandar Mitrovic, who have scored in five consecutive matches."

Expressen underscored just how vital the Arsenal marksman is to their chances. They said: "Viktor Gyokeres has played 76 minutes against Romania, 89 minutes against Poland and 90 minutes plus added time against Bosnia. All within the space of a week.

"Before that, playing time has been scarce at Arsenal during the autumn, but the goal-scoring form has not had to wait. One goal in every match, and the question that remains now is how much he can handle when Sweden meets Romania again on Monday?"

The publication acknowledged his struggles for Arsenal but made clear his significance to his country. They said: "Goals in six straight matches in the Nations League. Viktor Gyokeres, 28, is enjoying himself in the Swedish national team.

"Despite a shaky season at club Arsenal, Gyokeres has made a solid start for the national team. The striker has led Sweden's offensive during this intense international training camp.

"Gyokeres has scored in all three matches played this fall – and in fact, he has now scored in six consecutive matches in the Nations League. The 28-year-old was a constant threat in the Swedish offensive game."
