Arsenal return to action late on Saturday night, when they face Sunderland up in the North East. It has been a busy week for the Gunners, who were in Champions League action during the week, narrowly defeating Napoli thanks to Martin Odegaard's winner to kick off their league phase with a bang.
It has been a strong start to the season for the Gunners, who haven't been free-flowing in front of goal, but they have been very good at the back, which has been a trademark under Mikel Arteta, and to continue it in the absence of William Saliba is a fine feat.
Sunderland got off to a disappointing start to the season against newly promoted Ipswich Town, but the Black Cats have since beaten Fulham and drawn with Brentford, while they have also beaten Hull City in the cup.

Mundle is going to be out for a few months after undergoing a procedure. Regis Le Bris has confirmed: "Romaine has had meniscus surgery, so he's going to be sidelined for a few months... It's really tough because he worked so well during the pre-season and the summer. We are really disappointed for him, but we'll support him until he gets back."
Diarria is going to be sidelined until some time in October. Le Bris has said: "Habib, it’s a shame because I was so pleased with his pre-season... he’s getting more mature about his game, clarity on the pitch, his qualities and how they fit with the demands of the PL. The proof was against Fulham. So, he will wait, I think, six to eight weeks with his new injury."
Saliba is likely to be out until some time in November with his back issue. Arteta said last week: "We don’t really know the amount of weeks Wilo is going to be out because it’s about a healing process and everything is a bit different - we know we have to respect certain timings. The progression has been really positive in the last few weeks, but we need to wait and see how that one reacts when we start to put some load into it."
Mosquera has a muscular issue. Arteta said last week: "He had a muscular issue, and we think it’s not too much. But we need to wait and see the next few days for how it evolves." Mosquera could be in contention here.
Timber should be in contention here having been carefully managed over the last week or so.
