Steven Gerrard's transfer admission proves everyone is terrified of Arsenal
Arsenal are one of the best teams in world football.
Mikel Arteta has taken a few years to build an elite squad, and they finally won the Premier League title in the 2025/26 season.
Now, the Gunners are almost everyone’s pick to do it again, while Opta have backed Arsenal to win the Champions League as well.
That is a great compliment after a transfer window where Andrea Berta failed to sign a marquee attacker for Arteta.
Many people are happy about that, including Steven Gerrard.

If you asked Gerrard to name the team he would want to see win the Premier League this season, he would obviously pick Liverpool.
The Englishman is a red through and through, and even though Andoni Iraola’s side aren’t viewed as genuine title contenders, he would love it if they could push.
However, Gerrard knows that Arsenal are the favourites to win the title because of the brilliant squad Arteta has at his disposal.
The Gunners have at least two top-class players in nearly every single position, and that is why they are the favourites to win every competition they are in.
Having seen that, Gerrard has claimed that he is happy that Arsenal missed out on signing Julian Alvarez.
He said on TNT Sports: “I understand his point of view, but Atletico Madrid don’t want to strengthen a rival and be a feeder club to the teams you can compete domestically with and in the Champions League, so you can understand it from a club point of view as well.
“I’m just glad he didn’t go to Arsenal. I’ll just leave that one there!”

Rivals are scared of Arsenal, and rightly so
Gerrard’s comments make it clear that Arsenal are on a different level now.
Everyone knows that the Gunners have the most complete team in the league, but if you had to point at a weakness, it would be their attack.
Arsenal are already incredibly difficult to beat with the players they have, which is scary, but adding an elite forward could make them nearly unbeatable.
That is why Gerrard is glad that Arsenal did not land Alvarez, and we’re sure many other fans and pundits associated with rival clubs will say the same.
It’s now up to Berta to sign a new elite attacker in 2027 to make the Gunners even scarier for rivals.
