Rio Ngumoha to Arsenal? A deal for the Liverpool man would be perfect for Mikel Arteta
We’ve seen Arsenal linked with so many wingers in the last couple of months that we’ve almost become numb to any new rumours.
Failed moves for big names like Vinicius Jr have left Arsenal frustrated in the summer window, while losing Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard without replacing them has left the squad short.
However, while the window might be shut, rumours are still continuing and the latest player to emerge on Arsenal’s radar is Liverpool teenager, Rio Ngumoha.
For Liverpool fans, the sheer idea of losing Ngumoha to Arsenal seems ridiculous.
But for Arsenal fans and Mikel Arteta, it might be the perfect scenario.
Rio Ngumoha to Arsenal is just what Mikel Arteta needs
As mentioned, Liverpool fans will be furious if the club sells one of their top young stars. Not least to one of their biggest rivals in England.
However, the rumours are suggesting that Ngumoha is very much on Arsenal’s radar and that Mikel Arteta is a huge fan.
And in all honesty, it’s easy to see why.
Ngumoha is everything that Arsenal are looking for in a wide player for that left-hand side.
He is direct, confident with the ball at his feet, creates chances out of nothing and is comfortable going either way, much like Bukayo Saka is on the right side.
As it stands, we’ve only had glimpses of Ngumoha but the reality is that everyone knows we are looking at one of the premier young talents in England. Indeed, the fact he participated in England’s World Cup camp tells you all you need to know.
Another key element of this being ideal for Arsenal is Mikel Arteta’s way of working with young players. There would be no ego with Ngumoha, and given his age, Arteta can shape him into what he wants to be, including that key team ethos the Spaniard has.
Naturally, this deal looks unlikely for now unless the money is huge. But with home grown sales helping financially and Ngumoha down the pecking order at Anfield, Arsenal are right to at least sit watching.
