'Nothing special': How rival fans are mocking Arsenal after capitulation vs Brighton

Arsenal’s defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion seems to have brought a lot of joy to rival fans.

The North Londoners produced their worst performance in years at the Amex, and they deserve every bit of criticism they have been receiving from pundits and the media since the full-time whistle.

Even Arsenal supporters have been very critical of the performance and rightly so. It was simply not good enough from a side aiming to retain their Premier League crown.

Fans of other clubs, however, are thoroughly enjoying this defeat and have had a lot to say online.

How rival fans have reacted to Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat vs Brighton

Arsenal getting embarrassed on a football pitch has become a rarity.

Mikel Arteta has turned his side into one of the best teams in the world, and they are almost never outfought or outclassed by their opponents.

Brighton, however, did both on Saturday, and if we’re being honest, they probably deserved to win the game by five or six goals.

Rival fans have had to keep it in for a long time – they have had to see Arsenal’s flawless start to the new season, winning seven games out of seven quite comfortably. But after the defeat at the Amex, many have come out mocking the Gunners.

One Liverpool fan who has had to wait months to criticise Arsenal said: “Arsenal are nothing special at all. Been due a result like this for ages, nice to see them finally get it.”

Another rival fan called it a ‘humbling experience’ for the champions, while many others have used the annoying phrase: “Pecked by the Seagulls.”

A few others have started mocking Arsenal for having their Invincibles dream crushed, even though no fan realistically expected the Gunners to go the entire season unbeaten.

Rival supporters are having their fun, and they should enjoy it because it may not happen again for a long time. The last time Arsenal lost 3-0, in May 2023, they went over three years without suffering such a defeat.

Arsenal are still the favourites to win the Premier League title

Everyone associated with Arsenal should be devastated by the performance and the result against Brighton, but let us not forget the bigger picture here.

The Gunners still have the best manager in the Premier League, have the most complete squad in the division, and are the best-placed side to retain their crown.

Almost every other team has had an embarrassing defeat already this season. Yes, Manchester City are unbeaten in the league so far, but Arsenal hammered them 3-0 in the Community Shield.

Yes, it is a frustrating result and mockery from rival fans makes it worse, but the fact of the matter is that many of them would wish to be as strong as Arsenal are right now. That should tell you everything.
