Mosquera sits out training ahead of Naples trip

Cristhian Mosquera looks set to miss a second successive game after sitting out today’s training session ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League opener in Naples.
The Spaniard was absent from Sunday’s 2-1 win over Chelsea after picking up a problem against Aston Villa last week.
“He had a muscular issue, and we think it’s not too much,” reported Mikel Arteta at the weekend. “But we need to wait and see the next few days for how it evolves.”
Bruno Guimaraes was involved in training, although the midfielder continues to be handled with care following the problem he sustained in the Community Shield. After a half-hour cameo at Villa Park, the Brazilian was part of the matchday squad on Sunday but didn’t come off the bench. No doubt, he’s champing at the bit for some minutes.
The same probably applies to Jurrien Timber, who has not kicked a ball in anger since the Champions League final. The Dutchman is back on the grass and hopes to complete his recovery from a long-standing groin problem before the international break.
William Saliba remains sidelined with a back injury that needs time to heal. So far, Arteta has declined to put a timeframe on his return.
We might get more from the manager later. He’s due to face the media at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona around 7.15pm UK time.

UPDATE – We’re not going to hear from Arteta this evening as the Arsenal plane has been delayed in the UK due to air traffic control issues. Sounds like the team won’t touch down until 9.30pm local time. The club was given a heads-up and stayed at the training ground rather than waiting at the airport.
Jurrien Timber is part of the travelling squad.
