Mikel Arteta’s former assistant at Arsenal sacked after just four months in first managerial role

Mikel Arteta might have made a success of things after becoming one of the Premier League’s youngest managers but his former assistant seems to have failed miserably.
Arteta was just 37 when he was handed the head coach job at The Emirates in 2019 and since then, he has more than proven himself capable.
Arsenal finally won the league title last season to add to their other domestic trophies under Arteta, while they were also penalties away from beating PSG| in the Champions League final.
Nevertheless, it seems that just because Arteta can do it, those who work with him can’t.
Carlos Cuesta sacked by Parma just months into first manager role
There was a lot made of Carlos Cuesta leaving Arsenal in the summer.
At just 31, he was very much seen as a key cog in the Arsenal operation despite his tender years.
In the end, after five years working under Arteta, Cuesta was on his way to Parma as he became the youngest head coach in Europe at the time.
However, after a disastrous opening five games has seen Parma pick up just four points, the Italian side have decided to move on quickly from the experiment.
Cuesta now finds himself out of work mere months after taking up the role.
Arsenal, of course, have moved on from Cuesta and it would be a huge surprise to see Arteta reach out and bring him back into the club.
Quite where Cuesta goes from here, remains to be seen. But once again, football has shown its ruthless side at the top level.
