Mikel Arteta Confident New Arsenal Contract Will “Get Done” At The Right Time

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has moved to ease any concerns surrounding his future at the club, insisting there is nothing to worry about regarding his contract situation.
Arteta’s current deal with the Gunners runs until 2027, but reports have been circulating for some time suggesting he is keen to extend his time in north London beyond that.
Speculation over the summer indicated that negotiations were not a priority at that stage, with Arsenal’s key decision-makers focused heavily on business in the transfer market.
Attention then naturally shifted to the opening weeks of the new Premier League campaign, pushing contract talks further down the agenda as competitive football took centre stage.
However, with an international break approaching, Arteta was pressed on whether a resolution might now be within reach, and he responded with characteristic calm and confidence.
“I think we are all very much aligned; whenever the time is right, we’ll get that done,” Arteta told the media. “There is nothing to be concerned about.”
He added: “I don’t know if the timing will be the same or different, I think we both have the same ambition and the same will, so whenever we have time we’ll get that resolved.”
BBC reporter Sami Mokbel has reported that Arsenal are in the process of finalising an agreement with Arteta, with well-placed sources indicating that talks have moved forward in recent weeks.
Those involved in the negotiations reportedly hold full confidence that the Spaniard will put pen to paper on a fresh deal, with the club committed to significantly improving on his current contract.
Arteta’s existing deal is understood to be worth £10 million per season, with an additional £5 million tied to Champions League qualification, a bonus he has consistently earned in recent years.
David Ornstein confirmed back in August that Arteta was set to remain at Arsenal, and that both parties expected to reach a formal agreement in due course without any significant complications.
The picture that emerges is one of total alignment between manager and club, with no fundamental disagreements standing in the way of what would be a landmark new contract.
Once the details are finalised, Arteta is expected to become one of the best-paid managers in world football, reflecting his standing as one of the elite coaches in the Premier League.
For Arsenal supporters, the message from all sides is clear: the only outstanding question is timing, and even that appears to be little more than a formality at this stage.
