Mauricio Pochettino makes an Arsenal and Tottenham claim that’s utterly baffling
Mauricio Pochettino knows about the rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur very well.
The Argentine managed many North London Derby games during his time at Spurs and picked up a few memorable victories as well.
Arsenal and Tottenham are on completely different levels now. The Gunners won the Premier League last season, while Spurs finished 17th for the second season in a row.
Despite that, Pochettino has just said something about the two sides that feels ridiculous.

Tottenham have Roberto De Zerbi as their manager now, and he was handed an absolute fortune to sign new players in the summer.
The signings of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Marco Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke among others convinced many people, like Jamie O’Hara, that ‘Spurs are back’.
Once again, they have all been very wrong.
Arsenal have won every game they have played so far this season, while Tottenham have picked up one point from their first three Premier League games and haven’t even scored yet.
Pochettino has seen his old club’s results this season, but he has still bizarrely claimed that Spurs, along with Chelsea, could challenge Arsenal for the Premier League title.
When asked if Chelsea are title contenders, he told Sky Sports: “I think so. I think so.
“Of course, they are disappointed after the defeat against Arsenal, but I think we need to give time to Xabi. It’s his first season after three games in the Premier League, and I think we need to give him time.
“And of course, for Tottenham, the same.
“You know that Arsenal are more consistent, and, for me, Mikel Arteta is the best coach in the Premier League today. Knowing what he needs to do, it’s going to be tough, you know, to beat them.
“But I think Chelsea and Tottenham can be contenders for the Premier League.”
Tottenham will not challenge Arsenal for the Premier League title
Football is a funny game, and we’ve seen many strange things happen over the years.
However, we think there’s zero chance that Spurs can turn their season around and mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title.
Spurs have been shockingly poor this season, and even many of their own fans have admitted that they will happily take a top-half finish now.
That alone tells you just how bizarre Pochettino’s comments are.
We can’t predict the future, but we think Tottenham are significantly more likely to be in a relegation battle than in a title race this season.
