Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has hit out at Bernardo Silva before limping out of the stadium following Norway's defeat to Portugal on Sunday. The midfielder picked up an ankle issue after being on the end of a malicious challenge by the former Manchester City star.
Odegaard underwent treatment following the full-time whistle in Ullevaal after Silva put in a nasty tackle during stoppage time of the game. The Real Madrid ace appeared to wait until Odegaard had released the ball before kicking out at the back of his leg after closing him down.
Odegaard was furious and looked to aggressively shout at his former Premier League rival to deliver his frustration the next time they were near each other on the pitch. The 27-year-old couldn't help but limp from the field following the full-time whistle.
Following treatment, Odegaard stopped to speak to Norwegian media outlet TV2. The Arsenal star gave a stark assessment of Silva's challenge.
"It doesn't belong on a football field," he said. "It's a shame that people do that."
Odegaard did not want to repeat that he had shouted at his opponent. "I don't think we should do that on TV," he added

Despite the pain he was in, Odegaard hopes that he has not picked up an injury that will keep him out of action. "I hope not," he said.
"But I got a knock on my ankle there, so it probably won't be good tonight."
On Silva's actions, Odegaard added: "It's a head fog from him. Just kicks me down long after I've played the ball away. I don't understand what he's doing."
The tackle was met with fury at the Norwegian broadcaster, too. "Look at Bernardo Silva. It's completely unnecessary, it's ugly," commetator Simen Stamso Moller said.
Mikel Arteta will hope he does not have another injury on his hands after Germany forward Kai Havertz had to withdraw from international duty.
Odegaard's frustrations were compounded by defeat for Norway. Joao Felix opened the scoring in Oslo before Manchester City star striker Erling Haaland netted in the 51st minute.
