Games between Arsenal and Brighton have been close affairs in recent years.
The Seagulls have given the Gunners quite a few problems, but Mikel Arteta’s record against them over the last few seasons has been very good.
Arsenal have won each of their last three games against Brighton and are unbeaten in their last seven. That makes them the favourites to win again on Saturday.
Ahead of the fixture at the Amex, Gary Neville and Ian Wright were asked for their score predictions, and both pundits backed an Arsenal win.
Neville said on the Stick to Football podcast: “1-0 Arsenal, I think.”
Wright added: “2-0 Arsenal. Can we go 2-0, please? 2-0 for the great Arsenal. The champions!”
We’re sure Arteta and Arsenal fans will take either of those results to maintain their flawless start to the new season.
Why Arsenal beating Brighton is more important than people think
Arsenal go into every game hoping to win it, and the clash against Brighton will be no different. But there is an added incentive to win the game.
The fixture on Saturday is the Gunners’ last before a three-week international break. They don’t play again until the 10th of October.
Sitting on a poor result for such an extended period of time would have a negative impact on the players, staff, as well as the fans.
That makes a win all the more important at the Amex, as three points would almost guarantee Arsenal stay at the top of the Premier League until they return from the international break.
