How Arsenal could line up vs Leeds with enforced changes after nine-player injury update

How Arsenal could line up vs Leeds with enforced changes after nine-player injury update

Mikel Arteta is expected to make at least one change to his side when Arsenal face Leeds

The return of Premier League action is slowly edging closer and for Arsenal, it will represent a chance to get back to winning ways following a devastating 3-0 defeat at Brighton before the break.

Leeds will undoubtedly be a tough nut to crack as they are yet to taste defeat in the top-flight this season having won two and drawn three of their opening five games.

Mikel Arteta also has a host of injured players pushing to return, though his ranks are expected to be significantly bolstered when the Whites head to the Emirates Stadium.

Barring any twists, David Raya should be fresh to start between the sticks as Unai Simon remains Spain's No.1 goalkeeper having helped fire La Roja to World Cup glory.

At right-back, Arteta could finally have two options at his disposal in Ben White and Jurrien Timber, who has been away with the Netherlands rebuilding his fitness while White has been doing his injury rehab at Sobha.

Both have a chance of being available to face Leeds and the same actually applies for Cristhian Mosquera as he has been doing some training at former club Valencia during the international break.

Timber could keep his place at right-back or White could start; Ezri Konsa, who is pushing to be back in England's starting XI against Croatia in Rijeka this weekend, could partner Gabriel Magalhaes at the heart of Arsenal's defence.

William Saliba is making progress in his rehab but he's still not close to returning to the field just yet.

Riccardo Calafiori should keep his spot at left-back as Piero Hincapie is battling a muscle problem that saw him left out of Ecuador's international squad for friendly matches against South Korea and Japan in Asia.

In midfield, Bruno Guimaraes or Myles Lewis-Skelly should start alongside Declan Rice, who has been resting over the break after withdrawing from international duty.

Ahead of them, Martin Odegaard should start as the No.10 after he appeared to shake off an ankle problem sustained for Norway against Portugal following Bernardo Silva's late tackle.

On the right, Bukayo Saka will keep his place while Christos Tzolis now looks likely to be unavailable following a few productive games for Greece. He scored against Serbia, assisted the winner against Germany and also struck against Holland last night but the goal was chalked off before he pulled up with a muscle injury. He is undergoing tests today and will then return to north London.

It could now prove to be a big month for Eberechi Eze, who has struggled for starts so far this season. He looks set to be the club's first-choice option on the left flank, now.

In attack, there should be a chance for Viktor Gyokeres to earn his first start of the season following Kai Havertz's hamstring injury which is not thought to be serious.

Possible Arsenal XI vs Leeds: Raya; Timber, Konsa, Gabriel, Calafiori; Rice, Lewis-Skelly; Saka, Odegaard, Eze; Gyokeres.
