'He's fine': Mikel Arteta now confirms £50m Arsenal star is fit to face Sunderland

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that right-back Ben White is fit to face Sunderland in tomorrow’s Premier League game at the Stadium of Light.

The England international has been ever-present at right-back since the start of the season. He has barely had a rest due to the lack of specialist options to replace him.

Jurrien Timber has yet to return to action after his groin injury, while Cristhian Mosquera has been out of action for the last few matches with a minor muscle concern.

White appeared to be in a bit of discomfort before his late substitution against Napoli in midweek, but Arteta has now confirmed that the £50 million signing is ‘fine’.

When asked about White’s condition in his pre-match presser, Arteta said: “He’s fine.”

The manager added that Mosquera and Timber are doing well after recent injuries, but refused to confirm whether the duo could be fit to face the Black Cats on the road.

Arsenal have had a fine start to the campaign with five wins in all competitions. They are currently behind leaders Manchester City in the league after three games on just goals scored.

The Gunners have the opportunity to go top of the table by beating Sunderland. It could be a tricky contest based on how the club fared at the Stadium of Light last term.

The Wearside outfit provided a strong physical tussle over 90 minutes. Arsenal were on the cusp of a 2-1 victory before Brian Brobbey scored a late equaliser for the hosts.

The Gunners had a couple of quality chances thereafter, but Sunderland were superb defensively. Arteta will hope his team can secure maximum points this time around.
