Havertz heads back to Arsenal after Germany injury

The new Interlull might be long, but Kai Havertz’s international adventures have been cut short after he picked up an injury last night.
The Arsenal striker was caught by Quinten Timber in Germany’s 1-1 draw with the Netherlands, and subsequently went down in some discomfort – appearing to mouth the word ‘hamstring’ to the physio as he sat down on the pitch.
Afterwards, Jurgen Klopp confirmed a muscular problem which would rule him out of Germany’s next game against Greece on Sunday. The 27 year old was only due to appear in two of the four Nations League games, with the former Liverpool boss splitting his squad into two groups for said fixtures.
This morning, David Ornstein has reported that Havertz will return to Arsenal for an assessment, and while the belief is the issue is minor, he does have history with his hamstrings.
In February 2025, he sustained a serious tear during Arsenal’s warm weather training camp in Dubai, and had to undergo surgery to correct it.
Fingers crossed it’s nothing like that, and the extended Interlull may be beneficial for his recovery if the injury is minor.
Nevertheless, it’s unwelcome news, and Mikel Arteta will hoping the rest of his international Gunners come through the next 10-12 days with a clean bill of health.
