Gary Lineker says attacker Arsenal want to sign is ‘very, very special’

Arsenal’s summer transfer window was, largely, seen as a success.

The Gunners made a few important signings such as Bruno Guimaraes, Ezri Konsa and Christos Tzolis, but there is still a clear gap in this Arsenal squad.

Indeed, the Gunners’ attack, particularly down the left wing, is looking rather weak.

Arsenal wanted to sign a new left sided player this summer, Vinicius Jr was strongly linked to Mikel Arteta’s side, but, sadly, a deal couldn’t be done.

The transfer window may be closed, but the links haven’t stopped, and Rio Ngumoha is apparently one player on Andrea Berta’s radar.

Speaking on The Rest is Football, Gary Lineker has reserved some special praise for Ngumoha after his performance for England on Tuesday night.

Gary Lineker impressed by Rio Ngumoha

Lineker spoke about Ngumoha after he came off the bench for England vs Czechia.

The winger may have only made a cameo in this game, but it was enough to leave quite the impression on Lineker.

The pundit described Ngumoha as ‘seriously talented’ while he noted that he looked a very special player too.

“But I tell you, impressed me when he came on, Ngumoha,” Lineker said.

“He’s not scared to take someone on. He’s a seriously talented young player.

“He’s got something very, very special to be that good at that age. So yeah, Liverpool enjoy him over this season. That’s for sure.”

As a young left-sided attacker, Ngumoha could be just what the doctor ordered at Arsenal, and that fearlessness is something the Gunners need to harness down that side.

Tzolis has been solid so far this season, but he doesn’t play with that same confidence as Ngumoha.

Doing a deal with Liverpool for their brightest young gem won’t be easy, but if Arsenal could get this done, it would be one of the biggest statement signings possible.
