Gabriel Magalhaes says he's spotted something at Arsenal now that just wasn't there before

Gabriel Magalhaes has been one of Arsenal’s most important players during Mikel Arteta’s rebuild.

The Gunners signed the Brazilian in the summer of 2020, and he has been a regular in the side since he made his debut in the opening game of that season.

Gabriel has been fantastic for Arsenal all these years, and his efforts were finally rewarded last season when he won the Premier League title.

However, this season, Gabriel feels more confident than ever before because he noticed something strong about Arsenal: squad depth.

Arsenal have one of the best squads in Europe right now.

The Gunners have two top-class players in almost every single position, and that helps them cope with injuries and player unavailability for any other reason.

Mikel Arteta has rotated his side for the Champions League and Carabao Cup games, and Arsenal still looked incredibly strong and won both fixtures comfortably.

Gabriel Magalhaes has endured times at Arsenal when one injury to a key player has led to a complete collapse – William Saliba’s injury in the 2022/23 campaign is the perfect example.

Now, the Brazilian seems delighted with the squad depth and has admitted that this is unlike anything he has seen at Arsenal since he joined them.

He told ESPN Brasil: “The quality of the squad is very high, right? A few seasons ago, if one player got injured, we didn’t really have – not that we didn’t have a high-level centre-back, but I think within the squad we didn’t have enough players.

“Now we can say that we have enough players for every position, and all of them are at a high level, which always gives the manager a bit of a selection headache. The squad is very strong.

“So, obviously, we’re thinking about Saliba being out, and Mosquera is also going to be out for a few days. But we have players coming back, and we have a very good squad.

“That’s it, man. We just have to keep working, stay together and keep our feet on the ground, because the season is very long.”

Arsenal are two players away from having a complete squad

As said above, Arsenal have at least two top-class players in almost every single position, and that makes them an incredible squad.

There are, however, still a few areas to improve, especially in attack. Arsenal only have one natural left winger, while Viktor Gyokeres’ poor form means they could do with an upgrade up front as well.

So, if Arsenal sign a new left winger and a striker in the upcoming windows, their squad will become complete.

That would then make the Gunners even bigger favourites to win the Premier League and Champions League titles.
