Gabriel Jesus admits there’s already something he thinks is better about Arsenal than Barcelona

Gabriel Jesus is enjoying his start to life at Barcelona.

Signed for around £8.5million on deadline day, the Brazilian took over the No.9 shirt vacated by Robert Lewandowski and has wasted no time settling in. He’s only made appearances off the bench so far, but he got off the mark with a goal in Barca’s 5-1 Champions League win over Feyenoord last week. He looks happy after completing what is, by all accounts, his dream move.

And yet, speaking to Diario Sport via TikTok, Jesus has already found one thing he prefers about his previous life.

Comparing the four major cities he has called home — Sao Paulo, Manchester, London and now Barcelona — Jesus ranked London as the best place in terms of the lifestyle.

It’s not deep, obviously. But it’s interesting, and perhaps another reminder of why Arsenal will always prove to be an attractive proposition for players. Not just because of the sheer size of the club but also coming with the added bonus of living in the English capital.

However complicated the last few weeks of his time in North London were, Arsenal fans wish nothing but the best for Gabriel Jesus. His exit was admittedly handled pretty clumsily. He trained away from the first team without being told why, and was reportedly frozen out without a clear explanation. Mikel Arteta said he was surprised by Jesus’ comments on how the exit materialised, but you can see why the player was frustrated.

Now he’s getting a fresh start in La Liga, though, and his reset at Camp Nou might just be the perfect platform for him to remind Europe of his quality. Hopefully he can rediscover the form he showed when he first arrived at Arsenal in 2022 — just preferably not against them if the two clubs meet in the Champions League this season.
