Furious Odegaard takes aim at Silva and his ‘head fog’

If you’re already a c*nt at Manchester City, the chances of becoming an even worse person after moving to Real Madrid to work with that sociopath Jose Mourinho were always going to be pretty high.
And so it has proved for Bernardo Silva, whose snide attitude towards his fellow professionals continues to mark him out as one of the game’s most dislikeable tw*ts.
Now he has somehow managed to annoy Martin Odegaard, a man so mild-mannered you suspect he apologises to the furniture when he bumps into it.
After deliberately kicking the Arsenal captain off the ball during the closing stages of Portugal’s 2-1 win over Norway, Silva received a volley of abuse from his opponent.
He later laughed off the incident, telling reporters, “It’s football, my friend.”
It’s safe to say those comments didn’t go down particularly well in the Norway camp, least of all with Odegaard, who slammed the 32-year-old’s actions.
“It’s a head fog from him, he just kicks me down long after I’ve played the ball away,” he told Norwegian broadcaster TV2.
“I don’t understand what he’s doing. It does not belong on a football pitch. It’s a shame that people do that.”
In recent years, Silva has appeared to take Arsenal’s challenge to Manchester City’s dominance of the English game rather personally. He has repeatedly moaned about the Gunners’ tactics, particularly when they have declined to play exactly as he would like them to.
If ever there were a case of the pot calling the kettle black, this was surely it. City have hardly been strangers to cynicism, dark arts or tactical fouling during Silva’s time at the club. That’s before we get to the mountain of financial charges hanging over his former employers, which looks set to underline how artificial their era of dominance really was.
As for the state of Odegaard’s ankle, he remained hopeful the damage wasn’t too serious.
“It probably won’t be good tonight, but I’m hopeful it will be fine in the next few days.”
It’s noteworthy that Odegaard and Silva will come face-to-face again next week in the return fixture of the Nations League group phase. What’s more the story will have another chapter when Real Madrid visit the Emirates in the Champions League in December.
The Arsenal crowd will doubtless give Silva the warm reception he has worked so diligently to earn.
