Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Julian Alvarez decision, Barcelona agreement, Martinelli exit

Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Julian Alvarez decision, Barcelona agreement, Martinelli exit

Hello and welcome to our live Arsenal news and transfers blog on Monday, August 31.

The Gunners have until 11pm on Tuesday to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad. And it was claimed on Saturday that Arsenal are waiting for the green light from Julian Alvarez before trying to push through a deal for the Atletico Madrid forward.

Alvarez, who was left out of the squad for Saturday's La Liga game against Sevilla, has seen his dreams of a move to Barcelona dashed, with the Atleti hierarchy unwilling to do business with their rivals.

The Argentine has been told he must decide today whether he wants to stay in the Spanish capital or pursue a move to the Emirates.

Meanwhile, it is also being reported that Arsenal have opened talks with Matias Fernandez-Pardo’s representatives as they consider a late transfer move for the Lille star.

Elsewhere, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Fabio Viera are expected to leave the Gunners before the end of the window. Jesus is Barcelona-bound, Martinelli is set for Al-Hilal and Viera is on course for a return to Hamburg,

Stay tuned for all of the latest rumours, updates and breaking news in the transfer window...

French side Brest have knocked back bids from Crystal Palace and Fulham for talented centre-back Raphael Le Guen.

The 19-year-old played the full 90 minutes on Saturday as Brest drew 2-2 with Toulouse in Ligue 1.

It's unclear when said bids were submitted but both sides remain keen to recruit new centre-backs before tomorrow's summer transfer deadline.

Arsenal have also made scouting checks on the teenager, who was in London for talks with Palace several weeks ago.

Brest are hoping to keep the prospect, who has drawn comparisons to William Saliba, in the hope that his value will increase this season.

Meanwhile, Fulham have also be probing for Rennes' centre-back Abdelhami Ait Boudlal.

Arsenal remains an option for Julian Alvarez before the end of the transfer window, according to reports, after his dream move to Barcelona was ended by Atletico Madrid.

The Gunners are still in the market for another attacking reinforcement before the end of the window with Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli expected to leave, and although Alvarez does not want to return to the Premier League, a move to Mikel Arteta's men could be a more feasable option than remaining at Atletico.

According to Florian Plettenberg, the agreement between Arsenal and Hamburg for Fabio Vieira is closed, following the conclusion of negotiations between the two clubs.

Vieira is set to return to Hamburg on a permanent deal for a minimum of £7.7million and has signed a four-year contract through to 2030. The player is expected to travel to Germany within the next few hours for a medical ahead of putting pen-to-paper on a move back to the Bundesliga.

Lyon have informed Malick Fofana's management that they want a minimum of £26million for a potential sale, as Arsenal continue to monitor the situation.

Paulo Fonseca, Lyon's head coach, said after his side's draw with Le Havre that Fofana is with them at present but the club needs to sell players and his departure is probable.

Gabriel Jesus is set to land in Barcelona this morning ahead of undergoing a medical after the La Liga side agreed to sign him in a £8.5million plus add-ons deal from Arsenal.

Barcelona and Arsenal exchanged documents overnight with Jesus poised to sign a two-year contract with the option of a further 12 months.

Arsenal made an enquiry about Iliman Ndiaye's situation overnight, according to reports in France, despite the player having agreed to join Tottenham.

It's claimed that the Gunners are trying to convince the Senegal international to sign for them instead, though Everton are expected to sell him to Roberto De Zerbi's Spurs.

Hello and welcome to our Arsenal live transfer news blog on this fine Monday morning.

Stay tuned for updates and reaction throughout the day from the Emirates Stadium...

We are heading into the final hours of the transfer window.

It is a Bank Holiday tomorrow but I very much doubt it will be a day off for the powers that be.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Jonathan David is the subject of interest from Atletico Madrid.

The La Liga side are looking to sign the Canadian on loan with an option to buy. The Juventus forward looks to be viewed as Julian Alvarez's replacement.

David is open to the move but Juventus need to find a replacement.

Iliman Ndiaye was linked with a move to Arsenal earlier this summer - but now he’s closing in on a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Times is reporting that Spurs have agreed a deal worth £60m with Everton for the Senegal international.

The report adds that Spurs moved for Ndiaye after Cody Gakpo opted to join Manchester City.

And the outgoings look set to continue at Arsenal as Gabriel Martinelli has reached a verbal agreement with Al Hilal.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that a verbal agreement has been agreed for a fee over €65m add-ons included.

The report goes on to claim that Martinelli will sign a long term deal and will travel for his medical.

Gabriel Jesus is closing in on a move to Barcelona.

The Gunners and the La Liga giants have agreed a deal worth €10m euros plus €5m in add-ons.

Jesus was left out of Arsenal’s first two games of the new season and has been training away from Mikel Arteta’s first team.

Julian Alvarez’s return to training at Atletico Madrid should not come as a surprise as Diego Simeone left the door open to a return last night.

Speaking after his side’s 3-1 win over Sevilla, he said: : “I understand that all the questions will be about Julian. The club has been very clear about what will happen.

“From a sporting perspective, I hope to help him continue being as important as he still is. My focus is on Sevilla, where he won’t be available.

“When he returns, we’ll give him everything he needs to feel important. In life, anything can be reversed, as long as we have our health.”

Some big news from Spain as Julian Alvarez has returned to team training with the Atletico Madrid squad today.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, Alvarez had been absent from Atletico training since earlier this week.

The Argentine also missed his side’s 3-1 win over Sevilla last night.

Now a rumour that won't go away, as Marcus Rashford is once again being linked with a move to Arsenal.

The Independent is reporting that the Gunners could make a move for Manchester United forward Rashford before the window closes on Tuesday night.

It's claimed he is on Mikel Arteta's list as a replacement for Gabriel Martinelli, who is on his way to Saudi Arabia.

It's also understood a move for the Englishman could be a temporary deal until the next transfer window.

CaughtOffside are reporting that Arsenal have opened talks with Matias Fernandez-Pardo’s representatives as they consider a late transfer move for the Lille star.

Fernandez-Pardo is looking to leave Lille this summer, though has an £60m asking price.

However, reports from France claim that Newcastle United have stepped up talks for the forward. and an agreement is now close.
