England squad announcement: Tuchel hands Arsenal youngster recall, leaves forward out

Myles Lewis-Skelly has been recalled into the England squad ahead of the Three Lions’ UEFA Nations League fixtures against Spain, Czechia and Croatia.

Lewis-Skelly was omitted from the Three Lions’ squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite his impressive form towards the end of the last season.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season and has now earned a recall to Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

Lewis-Skelly has started six of Arsenal’s seven matches across all competitions. He only missed the UEFA Champions League victory away to Napoli.

The teenager has helped Arsenal control games in the opening weeks of the Premier League, averaging 45 accurate passes per game, the fourth highest in the squad.

Lewis-Skelly has also contributed defensively and will now have the opportunity to impress Tuchel against some of Europe’s strongest sides.

The Hale End academy product will be competing for places with Declan Rice, Alex Scott, Jude Bellingham, Kobbie Mainoo and Elliot Anderson and for a place in Tuchel’s preferred two-man midfield pairing.

Rice and Anderson were the preferred midfield pair during the World Cup, suggesting that Lewis-Skelly needs to step up to impress Tuchel.

With England set to play four games, he will be hoping to get ample time to make an impact and strengthen his position in Tuchel’s plans.

Bukayo Saka, Ezri Konsa and Eberechi Eze have also been named for the Three Lions’ upcoming games.

Meanwhile, Noni Madueke has been left out. Liverpool teenager Rio Ngumoha, who has recently been linked with the Gunners, appears to have replaced him.

There was also no place for Ben White in the latest England squad.
