Confirmed: Marli Salmon signs first professional contract with Arsenal

Marli Salmon has signed his first professional contract with Arsenal having turned 17 today, the club have confirmed.

It had previously been announced in April that Salmon had signed a pre-agreement for a deal.

Last season, while still a first year scholar, Salmon made four senior appearances. He played three times in the FA Cup and also featured against Club Brugge in the Champions League as well as being called up in the Premier League.

Mainly a centre-back he is also capable of playing at right-back if required and has been capped by England at U17 level.

Salmon, who impressed in pre-season, is now seemingly part of the first-team squad at Arsenal although this has yet to be officially confirmed.

It is anticipated that in addition to his first-team involvement with Arsenal he will continue to feature for the youth teams at times.
